SIMEDHealth in Gainesville, FL, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Part-Time Clinic Assistant to focus on the critical processes of medical Referrals and Authorizations. We are looking for a dedicated individual, preferably with prior experience in this area, to join our team and ensure efficient patient transitions to specialty care.

In this essential role, your primary responsibility will be the timely and accurate processing of referrals and authorizations. Your meticulous attention to detail in data entry, insurance verification, and communication will be vital to our clinic's smooth operation and our patients' access to necessary medical services.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Compiling all necessary patient clinical information for referral processing.
  • Diligently obtaining required authorizations from insurance companies.
  • Performing thorough insurance verifications.
  • Securely transmitting patient health information electronically.
  • Efficiently faxing medical records and providing relevant clinical context to referring specialists.
  • Proactively informing patients about the progress and status of their referrals.
  • Regularly checking and responding to voicemail and faxes.
  • Submitting authorization requests to insurance providers with accuracy.
  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate documentation of all referral and authorization activities within the EHR.

What We're Looking For:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (Required).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Word and Outlook (Required).
  • Prior experience with electronic medical records.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a medical office or hospital setting, with preferred experience in managing medical referrals and authorizations.
  • A strong understanding of medical insurance and authorization procedures.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
