SIMEDHealth is currently seeking a Full-Time Laboratory Technologist to work in our busy Gainesville Laboratory. Our laboratory provides chemistry, hematology, immunology, virology and toxicology testing services to the more than 100+ SIMEDHealth providers.
The Laboratory Technologist will rely on knowledge of technical principles, equipment operation and clinical correlation in order to properly perform laboratory procedures and to produce consistent and accurate laboratory results.
Qualified candidates will have:
Florida State License as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist in Chemistry, Hematology, and Immunology (Serology) is required.
ASCP Certification or equivalent (AAB, AMT) as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist is preferred.
Minimum 5-10 years experience in a laboratory health care setting required.
1-2 years leadership experience preferred.
AS degree or higher preferred. Experience can substitute for education.
Strong problem solving and communication skills, and the desire to be part of a dynamic laboratory team required
The Laboratory Technologist will:
Perform all Medical Laboratory Technologist duties as outlined in the Medical Laboratory Technologist 3 job description
Be available to the laboratory staff to provide guidance and assistance as needed.
Train new staff in laboratory processes, procedures, instrumentation, and general laboratory duties.
Be responsible for specific projects and duties as assigned by the Laboratory Director.
Interact with the Laboratory Director to provide insight and ideas when exploring new laboratory methods, instrumentation, and implementation of new policy and procedure(s).
Participate in management projects when assigned.
Participate in monthly quality control data collection, proficiency testing, linearity, maintenance, and additional monthly or bi-annual laboratory tasks as assigned.
Meet with the Laboratory Director and staff as required to discuss laboratory issues.
Follow all industry standard and SIMEDHealth specific safety procedures and, SIMEDHealth policy and procedures.
