Position Overview:

The Medical Assistant / Back Office Coordinator (MA/OC) is a working Medical Assistant who supervises staff in the Primary Care Division while providing clinical and administrative support to physicians and advanced care providers. The ideal candidate will be a role model for clinical staff, promoting teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train, and coordinate Medical Assistant staff
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA regulations
  • Oversee patient services and maintain high standards of care and satisfaction
  • Assist with patient care, including vital signs, EKGs, wound care, and medication administration
  • Monitor and review patient charts for accuracy and completeness
  • Triage and respond to patient communications, refill medications per provider approval
  • Manage scheduling, workflow, and timecard approvals for MA staff
  • Oversee supply ordering, vaccine management, and safety protocols
  • Support the onboarding of new providers and MA students
  • Coordinate and monitor population health initiatives and quality assurance measures

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent – REQUIRED
Medical Assistant, LPN, or similar certification – REQUIRED
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a medical or hospital setting – REQUIRED
Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting – REQUIRED
Electronic Health Records (EHR) experience – REQUIRED
Proficiency in Microsoft Office – REQUIRED
✅ Professional appearance, strong communication skills, and leadership abilities
AA/AS degree or specialization in Medical Office Management – PREFERRED
