Clinic Assistant

Multiple Divisions - Gainesville, FL - Full Time

SIMEDHealth is currently looking for several Full Time Clinic Assistant (CA) to join us in our Gainesville, FL office locations.  

The Clinic Assistant (CA) is responsible for assisting the providers and medical assistants of the patient care team.  The CA will work alongside providers and medical staff to ensure quality patient care is being delivered in a timely and efficient manner.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED).
  • Proficiency in utilizing a computer including Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Outlook (REQUIRED)
  • Previous experience with an electronic medical record
  • Demonstrates proficiency in medical terminology
  • 1-2 years previous medical office experience preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred

The following are duties which may be required of you as a Care Team (CA). Duties are assigned based on the clinic need and not all may be applicable.

  • Shall work as a team with all medical assistants in the suite
  • Patient Rooming (division specific) (may include taking patient vitals, patient history, medicine reconciliation)
  • Stock/clean exam rooms in between patients 
  • Check expired samples/medications/supplies in the exam rooms and closets
  • Maintain Sharps/Biohazard bags/containers
  • Monitor and address patient portal questions
  • Monitor fax server working requests (ingoing and outgoing) and prepare forms for signature, med refill requests to medical assistant, home health forms, etc.
  • Obtain prior authorizations (Cover My Meds)
  • Prepare insurance forms - FMLA/parking/patient requested
  • Prep and review patient charts the day before to make sure all reports available for visit (hospital notes, discharge summaries, etc.)
  • Work open orders
  • Handle non-clinical phone calls
  • Assist in checking medical assistant voicemail
  • Shall be available to assist the medical assistant or physician or advanced care provider with anything else they may need for the smooth daily operation of the clinic
